Overview

Dr. Mohammad Belal Hossain is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fisheries and Marine Science. He has been serving as faculty member in this department since 2009. He has more than 20 years of vast experience working on estuarine and coastal benthic ecology. A unifying theme across Dr Hossain’s work is an interest in estuarine community structure and functioning in light of changing environmental conditions. To this end, his current research includes studies on biodiversity of coastal benthic habitat; the use of estuaries as a natural lab for answering questions related to ocean acidification and climate change; the use of coastal environment for aquaculture; and status of heavy metal pollution along the coast line.
